Putting the pieces back together
Someone recently deconstructed a previous post and pointed out to me that I sounded quite cynical. For the benefit of those who may have misread my intentions, I'd like to reconstruct that post now.
Kansas City did not leave a lasting impression on me. My experience with it was coloured by some past experiences I've had with American waste, not only in the U.S. but outside of it as well, in other parts of the world where American ex-pats project themselves as over-indulgent, self-centred babies. Not all Americans are like this, of course. But from what I gathered in KC, I stand by my overall impression. If anyone would like to give an opposing perspective, they are welcome to do so.
What I failed to mention in that post was how wonderful the other part of my KC experience was. The wedding was beautiful. The people I met from my sister-in-law's side of the family were the absolute emblem of kindness. They are the one thing that made the trip enjoyable. They are also the only reason I will remember that city. I regret not investing more words to make that point clear. I was, at the time of writing that last post, still recovering from the vagaries of a two-part wedding. I was, in fact, feeling very cynical.
There, a mediocre reconstruction, perhaps even a hack-job, but let's hope this time the bridge holds...

That somebody was ME :-( I was too lazy to log into blogger. Me thinks your sister in law looks like a porcelain doll!
I miss your posts, Adnan, please write...?
